Bell held the Prime Design/Build contract for this project as a Joint Venture partner with Clark. Bell also self-performed the mechanical scope of work.
Project P-222 included upgrades to the Steam Distribution System at NSF Indian Head and consisted of constructing a decentralized steam distribution system with Eight (8) steam nodal plants, multiple distributed diesel Engine Generators and a 34,000 SF utilities and energy management (UEM) support building. The primary nodal plant is a dual fuel (natural gas and fuel oil) Gas Turbine and HRSG cogeneration facility producing both steam and electricity. The other seven (7) nodal plants use natural gas for steam production.
This project included Anti-Terrorism (AT) features and complies with AT regulations, physical security, and progressive collapse mitigation in accordance with DoD Minimum Anti-Terrorism Standards for Buildings.
Total installed capacity was 222,500 lbs/hr steam generation and 11.3 MW of electrical capacity.
