The 500,000 square foot, 9-story building includes a separate 900-vehicle parking garage, pedestrian walkway, and utilities building. Located in the Virginia Bio-Technology Park in Richmond, VA, the facility contains research laboratories, offices, building support facilities, a cafeteria, fitness center, company store, collaborative atrium, library, lecture hall, outdoor plaza, and community green space.
This project had a fast-tracked 21 month schedule from project start to certificate of occupancy.
The building was comprised of laboratory and research space with multiple ductwork systems, RO/DI service and laboratory gas, specialty gas, and HVAC piping services. The laboratory and plumbing finishes involved a complete fit out, including fume hoods, biosafety cabinets, and environmental rooms. The facility was conditioned from a new Central Plant facility constructed within the new parking garage.
Bell’s was selected for preconstruction Design-Assist services and to perform the mechanical and plumbing systems including the mechanical and plumbing piping, equipment, laboratory services and automatic temperature controls.
The Center was formerly known as the Philip Morris USA Center for Research & Technology.
