Gamecock Motorsports from the University of South Carolina teamed up with Bell Constructors, LLC - Charleston Office to assist in the construction of their 2016 entry into the Society of Automotive Engineering Mini Baja car. This student design competition challenges engineers to follow the SAE Mini-Baja Design guidelines and fabricate an all-terrain vehicle. Each vehicle component is assigned to a team member as a senior design project. These components consist of Design, Suspension, Driver Interface, Steering, Braking and Transmission Design. With the help from Brain Honig, John Partlow, Chris Shuey and Mark McAdams the team was able to build a rolling chassis with completion of all major components 3 weeks prior to race day.
The team was very appreciative of Bell's assistance and use of the fab shop for the effort: “Gamecock Motorsports from the University of South Carolina would like to thank Bell Constructors, LLC with the assistance and mentoring in the fabrication of our 2016 entry into the Society of Automotive Engineering Mini-Baja competition. Over the past three months the teamwork and commitment from both organizations allowed us to construct, fabricate and assemble our Baja car meeting tight time, budget and design guideline constraints. The Gamecock Motorsports team members all had solid senior design projects going into fabrication; however it was your assistance that helped us pull it all together. Once again thanks and we look forward to the potential of teaming up again in the future.”
